Project Description:
Alcohol-associated liver disease is rapidly becoming one of the most common causes of liver disease and reasons for liver transplantation.  However, up to 50% of patients receiving a liver transplant return to drinking and effective interventions to support alcohol use disorder in this population remain understudied.  Contingency management is an evidence-based behavioral treatment that provides incentives to patients in order to promote behavior change.  In this proposal, we will conduct a pilot randomized controlled trial to investigate whether contingency management can reduce drinking and improve quality of life in patients who returned to drinking following liver transplantation.
