The Office of Research Policy and Compliance (RPC) provides leadership in shaping, interpreting and implementing UC and UCLA research-related policies, procedures and guidance. RPC serves as the administrative home of the Conflict of Interest Review Committee (CIRC). In addition to convening this faculty-peer review committee, RPC engages in consultations and other outreach activities relating to conflicts of interest and conflict of commitment regulations, policies and procedures. These interactions include guidance about entrepreneurial activities and proposed engagement with industry. In addition, RPC acts as the designated resource for interpreting and implementing federal export control regulations and provides advice to the campus on regulations administered by the U.S. Departments of Commerce, State, and Treasury and others. RPC staff also work collaboratively with staff of Legal Affairs, Academic Affairs, and Office of Research Administration (ORA) on special reviews.
