The UCLA Mitochondria and Metabolism Core provides the necessary technical and conceptual resources for studying mitochondrial function. Services include respirometry assays in intact cells, permeabilized cells, and isolated mitochondria using the Seahorse XF96 Extracellular Flux Analyzer. Additionally, a frozen tissue respirometry assay is now available to measure maximal respiratory capacity in previously frozen samples.  An Operetta High Content Imaging System is also available for measurements of mitochondrial mass, membrane potential, and reactive oxygen species, among other applications. The Mitochondria and Metabolism Core provides in-depth training and scheduled use of instruments or full-service options for assay design, performance, and data analysis.
