Translational Science Seminars

The Translational Science Seminar provides the UCLA CTSI community with concrete examples of research that spans the translational spectrum. Seminars are organized around the top 10 causes of morbidity and mortality in Los Angeles County as well as other critical public health needs. The value of team science is demonstrated by collaborative teams who are working together to achieve population health goals. Scientists from different phases of the translational spectrum (T1-T4) present current research related to these major problems. They address how the research aligns with their vision for translation. Trainee and faculty discussions following the presentation emphasize both methods and goals to bridge the barriers for effective translation to health care, policy, and public health.

The first seminar was held on January 18, 2024 on the “Scientific agility during the COVID-19 Pandemic.”

During the seminar the panelists discussed how they practiced team science during the pandemic, and the challenges and opportunities of flexible scientific thinking and immediate translation.
