Antoni Ribas, professor of medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine and director of the Tumor Immunology Program at the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, has been awarded the American Association of Cancer Research’s sixth annual AACR-CRI Lloyd J. Old Award in Cancer Immunology for his leadership in the development of new cancer immunotherapies that are changing how patients with cancer are being treated. The research focuses on obtaining a better understanding of the immune system in order to create more effective, less toxic therapies for patients with melanoma.

Ribas, a CTSI awardee, received the award at AACR's annual meeting  in Chicago. His award lecture was titled, “Genetic Engineering of Anticancer Immune Responses.”
