CTSI's Study Activation Team (SAT).
On March 5, Employee Appreciation Day, Gene D. Block, UCLA Chancellor, and Emily A. Carter, Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, expressed profound gratitude for employee contributions. CTSI was very appreciative to have staff recognized. Following is their communication sent across campus.
On this Employee Appreciation Day, we are writing to express our profound gratitude to you for your contributions and dedication to UCLA. It has been about a year since UCLA Health had its first case of COVID-19, and we know that the past 12 months have brought all manner of personal and professional challenges. Yet each of you has persevered and continued to serve our campus and the greater community.
At a pivotal time, the DGSOM community has risen to meet the moment in countless ways. The Clinical and Translational Science Institute and Office of Clinical Research’s study activation team launched COVID-19 therapeutic trials in under two weeks — a truly remarkable feat. Your staff coordinated ongoing PPE donations and implemented crucial schoolwide safety protocols for those working or learning onsite, which enabled the school to continue its operations. And your scientists pioneered fast and cheap testing technology that has helped us serve our patients and track cases.
We are hopeful that in the coming months, our campus will begin to see a return to normalcy as more members of our community are vaccinated. For the time being, please be mindful of your own physical, mental and emotional well-being. Consider taking advantage of resources and tools designed to lift moods. We know these are still difficult times and want to support you.
