Anti-inflammatory Drug Shows Promise for Treating Alcoholism, UCLA Study Finds

The CTSI-supported clinical study was the first to find that ibudilast, a drug used in Japan mainly as a treatment for asthma and stroke, could reduce cravings for alcohol. Lara Ray, a professor of psychology and director of the UCLA Addictions Laboratory, was lead author of the study, which was conducted in the UCLA Clinical and Translational Research Center.
