Program Goal: to train postdoctoral individuals in human genetics for an independent academic research
career.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. MD and/or PhD degree; preference is given to MDs.
  2. Research must be in the area of human genetics, molecular biology, cell biology or a related field.
  3. Dedicated 75% protected time towards the research project.
  4. Must have future plans of submitting extra-mural grant applications
  5. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  6. Mentors at Cedars-Sinai, UCLA, and Harbor-UCLA, if not already members of the program, must be
  7. principal investigators on a non-mentored NIH grant or equivalent


Initial Application Process:

  1. Fellowship biosketch
  2. Two recommendation letters addressing the applicant's prior experience and suitability for an academic
  3. research career
  4. A statement from the applicant regarding immediate and future career plans and research interests


Other Details:

  1. The duration of the award is July 1, 2013 - June 30, 2014. (Earlier start is available.)
  2. Those funded the previous year are eligible to apply again for an additional year of funding. An annual progress report on funding, grant submissions and publication track record is required.
  3. We anticipate making two to three awards per year.
  4. Awardees are expected to present their data at the Intercampus Research Retreat as well as a national genetics or subspecialty meeting.
