UCLA CTSI Biostatistics and UCLA DOM Statistics Core presents

"RNA-seq: From Bulk to Single-cell and Beyond"

 Speaker: Richard Ahn, Ph.D.
Faculty Fellow
UCLA Institute for Quantitative and Computational
Biosciences, and Dept. of Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics
1100 Glendon Avenue, Suite 710
7th Floor Conference Room 725, Los Angeles, CA

Over the last decade, RNA-seq has completely changed the landscape of gene expression studies. In
the last few years, the popularity of single-cell RNA-seq (scRNA-seq) has spiked, along with the
number of methods to obtain, process, and analyze scRNA-seq data. An overview of the most widely
used RNA-seq methods, with a special emphasis on single-cell methods, will be presented. There will
also be highlights of new technologies and methods to complement scRNA-seq.
Richard Ahn, PhD, is a Faculty Fellow at the Institute for Quantitative and Computational Biosciences
and the Dept. of Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics at UCLA. His expertise is in
bioinformatics and statistical genetics and he focuses on questions involving immune responses to
injury, infection, and autoimmunity. He completed his postdoc at UCSF and his PhD at UC Irvine.
