The purpose of this module is to provide scientists and students involved in team based scientific collaborations with specific skills and strategies to effectively combine and integrative diverse areas of knowledge and expertise. This facilitation of “integrative capabilities” is thought to foster innovation. Dr. Maritza Salazar, who is an Assistant Professor of Organizations and Management at University of California at Irvine, will facilitate the module. She will lead a two-part module that will first focus on strategic team planning and design. During the second part of the module, she will teach communications skills to integrate diverse knowledge areas when working with others on clinical and translational research teams.
