The UCLA-Clinical and Translational Research Institute (UCLA-CTSI) at LA Biomed/Harbor-UCLA is located at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute. The Associate Director of the UCLA Clinical and Translational Science Institute at LA Biomed/ Harbor UCLA is Christina Wang, M.D. The Clinical and Translational Research Center (CTRC) provides support and resources for studies on human research participants. The CTSI also provides consultation and support in biostatistics, study design, data management, and biomedical informatics and supports community engagement and research. In addition the UCLA-CTSI supports a large number of Translational Research Cores. The description below provides brief information for the UCLA-CTSI resources at LA Biomed/Harbor-UCLA. Detailed information on all UCLA-CTSI resources can be obtained from www.ctsi.ucla.edu.
All protocols requesting use of CTSI resources are independently reviewed for scientific merit, research participant safety, valid justification for resource utilization by the UCLA-CTSI Scientific Advisory Committee at LA BioMed/Harbor-UCLA, the Human Subjects Committee or the Institution Animal Use and Care Committee as appropriate, and the Research Committee. All protocols must be approved at all three levels before use of the UCLA-CTSI resources are possible.
The CTRC is staffed with registered nurses, medical assistants, and registered dietitians. Our nurses, medical assistants, and bionutritionists are certified in good clinical practices (GCP), HIPAA, and protecting study volunteers in research.
For staff contact information, please see the Staff Directory page here.
The facilitator advises and assists new investigators on obtaining regulatory approval for their research projects and directs the new/junior investigators to research resources available both on campus and throughout the UCLA-CTSI.
